WYS is not WYG
This unit works, but what you will receive is NOT the Nyko Wii Adapter pictured, which is why I'm giving it one star - they tricked me into buying something they apparently don't actually have to sell. Nor does it have the same ratings as the Nyko unit, which is specifically rated for 120 volts AC @60Hz. (You can get a real Nyko from Best Buy for about $35, but it is truly made with the same tech specs that came with your original US-marketed Wii.) The product you will receive from "Quick Buys" will be a no-name Chinese knock-off rated for 100 volts AC at 50/60 Hz. So the unit works (I'm not sure why - see below), but it is not the genuine Nyko item.
As for my curiosity about why this unit works when it's not rated for 120 VAC input, it does not distort the screen like the similar knock-off marketed here on Amazon by "Bargaincell," which has a more ambiguous rating (100 to 240 VAC, but no frequency mentioned at all - I bought one of those and had to send it back), but the "Bargaincell" units will definitely distort the output from your made-for-sale-in_USA Wii, and should be avoided. (Just check the reviews on that item.)
So even though this thing from "Quick Buys" works, I will only use it for emergency purposes. I had already bought the Tyco at Best Buy, but the very existence of all these after-market Wii power adapters here on Amazon (just AC-DC transformers really, but the tech specs can really matter) insinuates that this is a weak link in the Wii gaming system, so I wanted a back-up unit in case the Tyco failed.
Since the two knock-off's I've bought through Amazon vendors seem to be rated for 25% less input (100 vs 120) volts than they're going to get from a wall socket in any US home (and who knows what damage this might do to a Wii rated for 120 VAC over time?), I recommend spending the extra bucks for the Tyco (the only one I know for sure is rated for common US house current in voltage & frequency). Just don't buy it from the ad with the Tyco pictured here from vendor "Quick Buys", which as I have already lamented, is NOT what you get when you order this item.
inexpensive and worked fine
This power adapter is an off-brand but is inexpensive and seems to work just fine. Why pay extra just for the Wii name?
Power adaptor
Needed a second adaptor and this works like the one that came with the WII. Would buy again if I needed another one.
